Emerald Bay Kayaking
Tour ID: TCK-03
Duration: 5 Hours
Departs from: D.L. Bliss State Park
Emerald Bay sits in a nook guarding Lake Tahoe's only island, Fannette Island, which is surrounded by the precipitous peaks of the Sierras. We launch our kayaks at D.L Bliss State Park, and spend approximately 4 hours paddling, gliding past granite cliffs (with Ospreys nesting) and sandy beaches along the way. We paddle in through the bottleneck opening of Emerald Bay, across its deep blue water to Fannette Island, where we'll break for a picnic lunch for an hour. After lunch, explore the island and its stone teahouse on foot. Rested and fed, we paddle back along the base of 9,000-foot peaks to our starting point.
